We started with this:

Attic Conversion

San Francisco

How much can you fit into 495 square feet?  How about a bedroom, bathroom, sitting room, walk-in closet and stairs?  This 1906 house, a farmhouse 100 years ago, had an unused attic and a cramped Victorian-style main floorplan.  We added a crafted but contemporary stairs, opened up the main floor, and upstairs managed to provide every room the owners desired, including a handicap-accessible shower.  A skylight over the stairs floods light all the way down to the main level.
